Trinidad and Tobago Yacht Club is located on the northwest side of Trinidad Island, close to the capital Port of Spain. The northeast coast of Venezuela is just 11 km away. By far the larger of the two islands, Trinidad is today a multicultural melting pot with a population of Native American, European, African, Asian, South American and Middle Eastern descent. One of the largest cities in the Caribbean, Port of Spain is a great introduction to the culture of Trinidad and Tobago.
It offers historical landmarks, botanical gardens and parks with lush vegetation and a wide selection of shopping, art galleries and restaurants. South of town is the Caroni Swamp National Park, one of the most popular attractions on the island. To the west, surrounded by lush rainforest, Brasso Seco is a quiet village that serves as a base for hikers and bird watchers. You can take day hikes to Double River Waterfalls, Madamas Falls and Sobo Falls. The 13 km trek to Paria Bay from Brasso Seco is one of the most gorgeous in Trinidad, passing the famous Paria Falls.
