Lagoa das Araras, Nobres, State of Mato Grosso, Brazil
LAGOA DAS ARARAS is located 3 km from the village of Bom Jardim in the municipality of Nobres. With a swamp characteristic in the transition area of the Cerrado with the Amazon Mato-Grossense, the Araras Lagoon has in all its landscape and surroundings a vegetation formed basically of Buritis, a species of palm typical of the region. When dying, the Buriti ends up losing its canopy and its stem is hollow which forms a habitat conducive for the Araras, Maritacas, Parakeets and other birds to mount their nests and to procreate.
In the place, there are several other species of animals being Araras the predominant bird of the lagoon and its observation can be done to the eye naked daily at around 17:00 hours because it is at this time that the birds celebrate and all this spectacle can be Appreciated in parallel to a beautiful sunset.
