The Itaimbezinho canyon is certainly the most famous in the country. However, next to the PN Aparados da Serra is the PN of Serra Geral, which holds a dozen canyons as impressive as Itaimbezinho itself.
There are more than 60 canyons in the region. The most famous are the Malacara and Fortaleza. Although they all look like each other, it seems that something unique makes us feel a sense of total surprise and fascination when we get close to the edge of each one.
But surely, what strikes the most attention and surprises by its magnitude is the Fortaleza canyon: with more than 7 kilometers in length. It is a huge crevice in the earth that seems to have no end.
