The Prince, and Princess of wales dazzle, when they arrive for the Earthshot Prize event in Boston. Hundreds braved the cold to watch, and cheer the Royals arrival. The Princess looks absolutely stunning in her beautiful green evening dress. The recipients, who each receive £1m to scale up their pioneering projects in the drive to secure a stable climate, were revealed at a glittering “green” carpet event in the US city of Boston. President Biden meets with the Prince of Wales
The Prince of Wales met Joe Biden on the final day of his US trip ahead of the Earthshot Prize awards ceremony. He greeted the US president at the waterfront in Boston, at the end of the royal’s visit to John F Kennedy’s Presidential Library and Museum. They held a 30-minute discussion which a Kensington Palace spokesman described as “warm, friendly and substantive”. The Kensington Palace spokesman said the president was keen to learn about Earthshot and some of the stories from the finalists, including the Great Bubble Barrier, a 2022 finalist in the Revive Our Oceans category.
Prince, Princess of Wales visit Roca Inc
On their trip around Massachusetts this week, the Prince and Princess spoke with the incredible people at Roca Inc. Roca uses brain science to reduce levels of trauma and disrupt cycles of violence and incarceration to create better outcomes for young people. A non-profit organisation that helps and focuses on high-risk young people between the ages of 16-24.
Prince and Princess of Wales visit Greentown Labs
The focus of the Prince and Princess of Wales visit to Massachusetts this week is climate change. That’s why they visited Greentown Labs in Somerville. “Their visit is so exciting for us,” Julia Travaglini, senior vice president of marketing and communications, as Greentown Labs is home to more than 200 climate tech startups working on solutions for some of the biggest climate challenges. Prince William and Princess Catherine will meet with a handful of them on Thursday. “They’re meeting with five of our startups that are working to deploy technologies that align with the sectors they’re focused on. So, think about cleaning the air, reviving the oceans, fixing the climate,” said Travaglini.
Dreams do come true!
Henry Dynov-Teixeira, 8, had his dreams came true Thursday when he met the royal couple. Dynov-Teixeira, who was dressed in a British royal guard uniform stood outside Greentown Labs in Somerville hoping to meet the Prince and Princess of Wales. Dynov-Teixeira said he wanted the outfit because when he went to London he saw the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace decided he wanted that costume. Dynov-Teixeira said the royals asked him what his name was, complimented his costume and thanked him for the flowers he brought.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have flown to Boston for the Earthshot Prize awards
Prince William Princess Kate enjoying Boston and thanked the US city for agreeing to host his environmental awards and for the tributes its citizens paid to his late grandmother the Queen, minutes after landing and being greeted by the governor of Massachusetts Charlie Baker and his wife Lauren. It is the pair’s first trip to the USA since they became Prince and Princess of Wales, and an NBA game was among their first engagements – where they were greeted to boos from a minority.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have three days of public engagements before announcing the prize winners on Friday in a ceremony headlined by pop star Billie Eilish.
It’s the first time the couple has been in the US since their 2014 visit to NYC — and it’s the first time they’ve made an international trip since the death of the Queen in September.
The newly named Prince and Princess of Wales were following in the footsteps of the Queen and Prince Philip, who visited Boston City Hall back in 1976, and they looked touched as they were shown a display of photos from that Bicentennial year trip.
Boston, birthplace of John F. Kennedy, was chosen to host the second annual prize ceremony because the late president’s 1962 “moonshot” speech inspired the prince and his partners to set a similar goal for finding solutions to climate change and other environmental problems by 2030. The first Earthshot Prizes were awarded last year in London just before the U.K. hosted the COP26 climate conference.
Royal fans braved grey skies and showers for a glimpse of the Prince and Princess of Wales at Boston City Hall on Wednesday afternoon – with many taking position hours before the future King and Queen of England were due to appear. Some brought flowers for the couple and others clutched messages of support and union jacks.
Joe Biden’s press secretary said the president would meet the couple in Boston, although the royal household has not confirmed this.
