Aracaju’s historic downtown area is home to large homes and old plazas. It’s filled with markets, museums and a vibrant commercial zone. This area is ideal for getting to know the city’s past while enjoying a beautiful view of the Rio Sergipe. The city has stunning churches dating back to 1857.
Among them are Sao Salvador and the Catedral Metropolitana, which has an amazing dome and antique frescos. You’ll find many famous monuments along downtown’s avenues, including municipal buildings, forts and other historic buildings.
