The Sandwell Aquatics Centre, nestled in Smethwick, West Midlands, is a shining example of legacy-driven design. Constructed at a cost of £73 million for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, it was the only purpose-built venue for the event. It boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including two gyms—one of which is exclusively for women—an indoor cycling studio, dry diving centre, and three versatile activity studios. Families and individuals alike can enjoy its sauna, steam room, football pitch, and urban park. The inclusion of a children’s play area and a welcoming café ensures it remains a destination for people of all ages, while its spacious changing village accommodates up to 600 users comfortably.
Reopened to the public in summer 2023, the Sandwell Aquatics Centre exemplifies community spirit and inclusivity. It serves as the home for Sandwell Aquatics Club, educational sports programs, and local diving initiatives, fostering talent and healthy lifestyles.
